Obituary for Erika M Patterson
Patterson, Erika M. died suddenly on November 22, 2017. Erika was 21. Twenty one years was not nearly enough but she was so dearly loved and cherished by those who knew her, especially her family...she is the beloved daughter of Theresa Battaglia (Patrick Gallagher) and Joseph Patterson Sr. (Kristen Cole) and loving sister of Joseph Patterson Jr. and Rachel Patterson. She will be dearly missed by her grandparents; Michael Battaglia and Geraldine Patterson. She was cherished by her uncles; Stephen Battaglia (Edana) and Tony Burnham and her aunts; Tracey Patterson and Terri Patterson and her great aunt; Marlene Diana. She is also survived by her loving boyfriend, Jimmy Ewing and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. She will be forever missed by her dog, Daisy.
Prior to living in Mt. Laurel, Erika resided in Hainesport and was a graduate of Rancocas Valley High School where she was a member of the Marching Band when they won the State Championship. She was a talented softball player for Rancocas Valley girls’ softball team, playing second base and winning the district 13 championship in 2008 - the first ever girls title for the organization. Always looking out for others, she was a lifeguard and also worked summer camps teaching children how to swim. Erika loved the beach, strawberry Eggo waffles, watching Law and Order, and music. She never wanted to miss an opportunity to go to the movies with her brother and sister. She will be remembered for having great playlists and incredible songs filling the room or the car or wherever she was. She was known to say that she got her love of music from her father, who was a DJ and a longtime collector of music. More recently, Erika introduced her mom to the music and bands of the day, trying to keep her mom cool and add to the music that they would grow to love together.
Erika, through her passing, carried out the ultimate act of love toward those in need as she was able to give life to others. On Thanksgiving, people were given another chance at life through her generous choice to be an organ donor.
As the Lumineers sing in 'Nobody Knows'... 'Love is deep as the road is long and moves my feet to carry on, It beats my heart when you are gone Love is deep as the road is long.' Those who knew and loved Erika, those whose feet will carry on her memory are invited to her viewing and to remember her smile and love for life on Wednesday from 6-9pm at the Bradley Funeral Home Rt. 73 and Evesham Rd. Marlton. Her burial will be private.
