Obituary for Elmer P Heppard

Heppard, Elmer P. On October 22, 2017. Of Marlton, NJ. Age 86. Predeceased by his soulmate and loving wife of 59 years, Clare Heppard. Survived by his son, Elmer Heppard Jr. (Netra Boonchoochuay) and daughter, Clare Gaines. Proud grandpop of Timothy Heppard. Predeceased by sister, Barbara. Brother in law of Anne and Pat. Elmer will also be missed by many loving family and friends.

Elmer enlisted in the Navy during the Korean War. He ended his enlistment serving with the Marines as a Navy Corpsman. He worked at the Philadelphia Naval shipyard for 33 years and retired as a general foreman welder.

Elmer was a devout Catholic. With his wife Clare, he was a member of St. Joan of Arc Parish in Marlton where he served as an usher for 50 years. There he volunteered with bingo, the Church carnival and many other activities. He was a member of the Marlton Seniors volunteering as the bookkeeper for many years. He volunteered as a welder on the Battleship New Jersey, and volunteered with the local district elections.

Relatives and friends are invited to Elmer’s visitation on Thursday, November 2nd from 10:00 – 10:30 am at the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 100 Willow Bend Rd, Marlton, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 am at the Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. Joan of Arc Church.
