Obituary for Dr. Frank Rykiel MD

Dr. Rykiel, M.D., Frank K. “Poppity”. Of Marlton, NJ went home to be with the Lord peacefully, yet unexpectedly, on Thursday, October 19th, 2017. Frank lived a fulfilling life that would not have been complete without his family that he so greatly adored. His children: Connie Beach (Tim), David Rykiel (Trish), and Dan Rykiel; grandchildren: Mallory, Matthew and Gabrielle Beach, Cameron and Justine Rykiel, and Jack Rykiel; brother: Ron Rykiel (Judy), and former wife Shirlee Rykiel.
Frank graduated from Camden High School, Rutgers University, and Jefferson Medical College. Frank proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and then began his career in internal medicine at Cooper Hospital in Camden. A founding father of Garden State Medical Associates and the Garden State Community Hospital (currently Virtua Marlton Hospital), Dr. Rykiel was respected, beloved, and a prominent physician for over fifty years. In addition to his passion for medicine, Frank loved the arts, music, history, politics, and proper grammar.
“Poppity” will be remembered for his dedication and unwavering love and care for his family, friends, colleagues, and patients alike. A celebration of Frank’s life will be held 10AM on Saturday October 28th, 2017 at Fellowship Alliance Chapel, 199 Church Road, Medford, NJ 08055. Relatives, friends, patients and colleagues are invited to greet the family following the service around 11 AM. In memory of his accomplished life donations may be made in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org http://www.stjude.org or to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, at https://give.chop.edu/page/content/give.
