Obituary for Ruth E. Dinsmore

DINSMORE, Ruth Beulah (Egee), Known to friends and family simply as “Ruth”, passed in the early morning house of Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at Riverview Estates, Riverton, NJ. She was 96.
Born October 7, 1920, in Ridley Park, PA, to Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Walter Egee, Jr. Ruth attended public schools in Rutledge, PA and graduated from Swarthmore High School in 1938. She attended Bucknell University, and received her Bachelor’s degree from Temple University in 1942.
Ruth married Ralph Boone Dinsmore on June 27, 1942. After the war, the lived in Broomall, PA; Drexel Hill, PA, Ridgewood, NJ; and the Moorestown, NJ area since 1963. Ruth was a polio survivor. She taught Home Economics and Cooking at Burlington City High School for more than twenty years, retiring in 1991. She was an inspirational teacher, beloved and remembered by her students. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Moorestown, where she served in American Baptist Women, played in the bell choir, sang in the adult choir, and supported various other ministries.
Ruth was a docent at Memorial Hospital, Mt. Holly, now Virtua, and at Smithville Mansion where she led tours dressed in period costume. Always dressed “to the nines”, she was an incredible seamstress who made most of her own clothing. She also loved gardening, Ireland, a bicycle trip down the Danube, and a trip to Bangalore, India, when she was in her eighties.
Ruth is predeceased by her husband Ralph, brothers Warren and Leonard, daughter Catherine Ruth, and grandson Jeffrey Thomas. She is survived by sons John Edwin and Thomas Warren, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday October 7th at the First Baptist Church, 19 W Main St, Moorestown, NJ 08057. Inurnment to follow in church cemetery. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
